I marched into the guys locker room, getting smacked in the face with a dose of old sweat and socks.  I almost gagged it was so bad.  Several of the guys halted mid motion while some attempted to cover their man parts. 

Please.  Like I wanted to see that.

“Where’s Baustic?” I asked a wide-eyed jock next to me who was standing in front of an opened locker in nothing but his boxers. 

He simply blinked as if unable to speak and pointed toward the left.  I rolled my eyes and marched toward the edge of the aisle, turning down another to find him about five seconds away from pulling down his jeans.

“Yo Baustic!”

His head snapped in my direction, blue eyes wide with a mixture of shock and confusion.  “K-Kory?”  His voice came out higher than usual.  “What the hell are you doing in here?”

I jerked my chin toward the back of the locker room where the showers were.  “We got some unfinished business.”  My face pulled that characteristic sneer most people were afraid of.  I couldn’t let anyone think I was here for any other reason than to either kick Brett’s ass or collect on a debt.

He glanced around, taking in our audience.  “Yeah, that thing.  Right.”  He zipped up his pants and followed me toward the back out of sight...

Blood Lies is coming this August

Warm steady breath blew on the back of my neck while a thick arm draped over my torso and a warm body pressed into my back. 

It was always too good to be true waking up with Rex holding me.  I had wanted it since the very first time he’d put me in his bed that horrible night he saved me from Nate and his rape intentions.  The warmth and familiar scent surrounding my body made me drowsy, my lids fluttering again.

A distant, persistent thudding echoed from somewhere and I finally realized it was the door.

I nudged him.  “Rex, someone’s at the door,” I mumbled, my voice thick with sleep.

He groaned, his arm tightening around me.  “Five minutes.”

I snorted on a laugh.  That was usually my line.  “The door.  Someone’s at the door.”  It was then that I remembered we were at school.  It was also then that I heard the distinct sound of a key sliding into place and unclicking the lock.

“No Koralein.  It’s fine.”  Rex’s fingers pried mine off his arm, letting them wrap tightly around his palm.  He squeezed firmly, my hand nearly disappearing in his.

“Is everything all right?”  Portia stood in the center of the aisle, holding onto the back of the chair in front of us.  Her hazel eyes zeroed in on our clasped hands, narrowing infinitesimally.  She was a petite woman—barely taller than me—yet she seemed to loom over us, stern disapproval evident in her small boned face.

Rex wouldn’t release his grip even when I tried to pull away.
